kirk session

As a Presbyterian Church, there are certain aspects of church life which are the responsibility of the Kirk Session. The kirk session is made up of ordained elders who oversee the mission of the church, church discipline matters, and the bigger decisions regarding the life of the congregation. As a congregation which does not have a board, the Kirk Session are also trustees of the congregation and oversee the property and finances.

The Kirk Session is chaired by the moderator who is usually the minister
Rev Francis Murphy.

The Session Clerk of the Mount Kirk is Mr William Binnie and deputy clerk is
Mr Ian Murphy

We have several committees and ministry teams to which some of the work of the session is delegated.

Finance team – budget, giving, gift aid etc

Property team – maintenance of church, church grounds and manse

Pastoral Care team – oversees pastoral care of elderly, and those who are sick or in hospital

Social and Education Committee – organises social and fundraising events

Sunday School – oversee children’s ministries on a Sunday morning and regular social events
